Call a customer from a WhatsApp QR number
Last updated: 26 September 2026 · 4 min read
You can make a voice call to a customer from a WhatsApp QR number right from the dashboard. The call uses your browser's microphone, and its recording and transcript appear in the conversation afterwards.
Steps
-
1
Open the conversation
Open the customer's conversation on the QR number you want to call from.
-
2
Start the call
Click the call button at the top of the conversation (hovering over it shows “Start WhatsApp call”). When the browser asks for microphone permission, allow it. “Connecting…” appears, then “On a call”.
-
3
During the call
“Mute” turns the microphone off and “Unmute” turns it back on. End the call with “End call”. If the customer cannot hear you, see “The customer can't hear me on a call”.
-
4
If the call does not go through
- “This WhatsApp number is already on a call”: another call is running on the number; wait for it to end.
- “Every call slot on the server is in use”: try again after a call ends.
- If the customer has never shown their number (the contact has only a WhatsApp ID), you cannot call them: the customer has to call first or write their number.
- If the customer calls the QR number, you cannot answer from the dashboard (see “Why you cannot answer a call to a QR number”).
