A QR contact has no number and its name shows as “?”

Under WhatsApp's privacy rules, a customer can write to a business without showing their number. In that case Clomni gets WhatsApp's internal ID with the first message, not the number.

Why there is no number
If the phone number on the contact card is empty, WhatsApp has not shown this customer's number yet. This is not an error.

When the number arrives
When WhatsApp shares the number later, Clomni adds it to the same contact, and the conversation stays the same. If another contact already has that number, the two contacts are merged.

Name
Instead of “?” or a meaningless name, the number is shown, and then the customer's WhatsApp profile name arrives. If you saved a name for them in your phone's address book, that name is used. A name you typed in Clomni is never changed.

Calls
You cannot call a customer whose number never shows. The customer has to call first or write their number.
