Short answers about the Mobile SDK. The detailed steps are in the other articles of this topic.

Minimum versions
- Android: Android 6.0 (API 23), Kotlin 1.8,
compileSdk35. - iOS: iOS 15, Xcode 15.
- React Native: 0.75 (0.76 for the New Architecture), Expo SDK 52.

How much does the SDK add to the app
The Android library (release AAR) is about 2 MB, and smaller in the app with R8. The iOS framework is about 3.7 MB. The Android SDK uses only OkHttp, kotlinx.serialization, Coil and Jetpack Compose; the iOS SDK uses system frameworks only.

What data is collected
- What the app passes: the user's ID, name, e-mail, phone, custom attributes.
- The messages the user writes to support and the photos they send.
- About the device: a random device ID the SDK makes itself, platform, OS version, model, app and SDK version, language, time zone, push token.
- Where the Messenger was opened (
source).
There is no advertising ID, no location and no tracking. The data serves the support feature only. The Android SDK asks only for the internet and network state permissions. The iOS package carries Apple's privacy manifest (
PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy): in the App Store privacy form, list these types as “linked to the user, for app functionality, not used for tracking”. -
4
Licence
The SDK is distributed under the Apache License 2.0. The Clomni name, logos, mascot and the message sound are not covered by it (the NOTICE file in the repository).

What happens when I change a key or the secret
- Security › “Make a new secret”: the old secret keeps working for 7 more days; move your server to the new one within that time.
- Installation › “New key”: the old API key keeps working for 7 more days. After that, app versions with the old key cannot connect, so make the new key together with a new release of the app.
- “Revoke”: the key stops at once. Only for a leaked key.
- A new push key: upload it in the Push section, and the next push uses it.

How many apps does one channel hold
One channel is one app: one Android package name and one iOS Bundle ID. The Android and iOS versions of the same app share one channel. Create a separate channel for each different app: each gets its own App ID, keys, look and statistics.
-
7
Test and live environments
Clomni has no separate test server: a test build also talks to
app.clomni.ai, and its messages land in the real channel. On iOS the SDK reports each device's APNs environment (sandbox or production) itself, and a Sandbox & Production key serves both. To keep test conversations apart from live ones, create a separate channel for test builds. The “Off” identity verification mode is for testing only. -
8
What does the push title look like
Push › “Notification title”: “Agent · Brand” (the default, for example “Leyla · Example”), “Brand name only”, “Agent name only” or “Your own text”. When a bot replies, the brand name is shown. The text is the message itself. On Android there is one notification per conversation, and a new message replaces the old one.

9
Does CSAT work in the app
Yes. Turn the survey on in the channel's CSAT section. When a conversation is resolved, the Messenger shows the survey as a card inside the conversation: 5 emoji or 5 stars, with an optional comment. The results are on Reports › CSAT.
-
10
What happens without internet
The Messenger shows “No internet connection” at the top. The user can keep writing: every message is saved on the device before it is sent, it is not lost when the connection drops or the app is closed, and it goes out by itself when the internet is back. If it still does not go after several attempts, “Not sent” shows next to the message and it can be sent again.

11
Is Expo supported
Yes, Expo SDK 52 or newer with a development build (
npx expo prebuild, EAS build). Expo Go does not load native modules. The config plugin of the@clomni/react-nativepackage writes the photo permission texts, the iOS push entitlement, the AndroidPOST_NOTIFICATIONSpermission and the notification icon. -
12
Can I hide “Powered by Clomni”
The Messenger's home shows “Powered by Clomni” at the bottom. The “Show "Powered by Clomni" at the bottom” option in Appearance › Theme works only on an account with the white label. If you see “Hiding this label is not part of your plan”, the Clomni team turns it on: write to Clomni AI.

13
Does the SDK add a button to my app
No. You open the Messenger with
presentfrom your own button. There is also a floating button, off by default. -
